My Son’s Dragon and Koi Tattoo

09/09/2010

When the kids came to visit this summer, my oldest son showed up with a huge tattoo on his leg. The artwork was quite amazing. It shows Koi fish and a dragon swimming through bands of black (the water?) on a hairy calf……It has some sort of story to it.

I imagine it was quite expensive – he didn’t say – and it took quite a few visit with the tattoo artist to get it finished.

I don’t have any tattoos. My other son has a couple and so far my daughter is tattoo free.
Just thought I’d share this amazing artwork.

And if you are interested, I have been looking for a story to go with the tattoo and found one about 9 Koi fish that take a perilous journey and turn into dragons. Read it here.

    That is amazing. Beautiful artwork.

Years ago a nurse i work with asked me to design a tatoo (dolphin) for her. I did, but then we didn’t work together anymore or something & i never had the chance to give it to her.

Have to say, i’m not very comfortable with “body art.” I dated a guy for a while who had a number of tatoos. It bothered me when they could be covered by his shirt, but when they began creeping all over i really had a time with it. I’ve heard that getting tatoos tends to be compulsive/addictive.

    Guess i’ll never know. 🙂

Tattoo? That’s a mural. While it may be colorful and a work of art, I’m not not big on tattoos beyond maybe “USMC” on a forearm. Worst of all is a tattoo…any tattoo at all…on a woman. I guess (no, I don’t guess; I KNOW…) I am from an earlier generation. A tattoo on a woman…especially a beautiful woman…is like skywriting across a beautiful sunset. Unnecessary and unwelcome.
